O'Fallon has 10 Boards, Commissions & Committees, whose members are all citizens who care about our community. If you want to become active in local government, provide direction to meet the needs of residents (your neighbors), preserve our history, ensure a healthy environment, and/or have skills you'd like to share, apply for one of these current openings. [updated 06/11/26]

Each board, commission, & committee serves a different community purpose within the City of O'Fallon. Below is a list of the active boards, and the mission of each:

Board of Adjustment

• The Board 's responsibility is to consider variances — permission to modify the regulations of Title IV: Land Use of the Municipal Code — on a case-by-case basis.

Cultural Arts Commission

• The Commission’s purpose is to foster art, culture and, art education by recommending suitable art to be commissioned and/or acquired, find and recommend suitable sites for public display, and raise funds to support the City’s public art initiative.

Historic Preservation Commission

• The mission of the HPC is to provide a means to promote the cultural, economic, and general welfare of the public through the preservation and protection of structures and areas of historic and cultural interest.

Mayors Youth Advisory Council (non-mayoral appointed)

• MYAC was created to give youth a voice in City government, and to educate youth on how the governmental branches work together to improve the City. The high school seniors and juniors act as liaisons to city government.

O'Fallon Convention & Visitors Bureau

• The OCVB advises the Mayor, City Council, and City Administrator on the expenditure of transient guest tax revenue and is responsible for modeling the continuation and enhancement of current tourism endeavors while envisioning future possibilities. Planning includes consideration of community impact to citizens and business owners, as well as operational and capital requirements.

Parks & Recreation Advisory Board

• This Board is intended primarily to offer to the Mayor and City Council both a user's special focus and a citizen's perspective to augment city staff expertise on matters dealing with parks and recreation activities as the Mayor and Council allocate funds and set city priorities.

Planning & Zoning Commission

• The P&Z Commission is tasked with making informed decisions that shape the development and sustainability of the city. Duties include the review and approval of land use plans and the establishment of zoning regulations.

Public Works Advisory Committee

• The PW Committee is intended to be an advisory body, addressing a full range of public works, infrastructure, transportation and environmental issues, ecology, green initiatives, recycling, environmental protection and enhancement, and related matters, to the Mayor, City Council, City Administrator and Public Works Department.

Senior Resident Advisory Committee

• The mission of the Senior Resident Advisory Committee is to advise the Mayor, City Council, and City Administrator regarding issues affecting senior citizens. The committee studies, assesses, and renders advice on plans and City programs related to seniors, and brings forth issues and concerns to the City’s elected officials.

Veterans Commission

• The Veterans Commission advises the Mayor, City Council, and City Administrator on matters concerning Veterans’ affairs, as well as the preservation and upkeep of the City’s memorials. The commission also oversees planning for ceremonies, holidays, and events honoring veterans and interacts with local Veterans’ organizations.
